House Hunting (Update) 8/1/09

Things are looking good. The inspection and appraisal both should be completed by the end of next week, then it goes to the underwriter. It is possible that we my be able to move the closing date up a bit.

Yesterday I ended up getting off work a couple of hours early and had a 2 1/2 hours to kill before my appointment with my mortgage broker, so I went to T-Mobile because my cell phone keeps shutting it's self off. As soon as I told them the problem they said that the manufacturer will replace the phone, should be here possibly as soon as Monday. Since that didn't take anywhere as long as I thought it would I still had lots of time to kill so I went to Home Depot to start looking at cabinets for the the kitchen, paint colors for the inside and out, a new front door.
I went to the door area and the girl working there asked if I needed help, so I told her the situation and she said that I had about 5000 choices(that's not helping much), after going over a couple of detail we eliminated about 3000(well, that's a good start). While she went to take a phone call I continued to look around. I found the perfect front door but it is $350 (ouch). When she came back she said the door I chose was one of the few that is not on the web site and seems to be becoming quite popular lately.

Now for the kitchen. Antiqued Ivory base and wall cabinets with granite tile (12x12) counter tops, glass mosaic tile back splash with black appliances. The island will be at least twice the size it currently is in black with a granite slab or butcher block top.

Another good thing about this move is that it will give me the opportunity to sort through everything and get rid of the things I no longer need or want. So the next question is do I have a garage sale before I move or after?

With the move coming up I probably won't have a lot of time to post much, so you may not see much new until a week or two into the new house.
