Lasik Update #3

Well it has been 48 hours now and things are still going great. The left eye is not having any stinging are anything at all and the right eye is doing better, I only feel the "grain" of sand now and then. I have one eye drop that I use 4 times a day for one week, one eye drop that I use 4 times a day until the bottle is gone and I use Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops every 1-2 hours and will continue at that rate until my next appointment on 1/22, at that time the usage rate will probably be reduced until the end of 6 weeks or so. Then I will have my final appointment in the end of March.

For TBC

I'd love to wrap this guy up in a big blue ribbon for your birthday but I guess you'll have to settle for "little" ol me.......

Lasik Update #2

Well it has been 24 hours and things are going great. I have been using all three of the prescribed eye drops as instructed. The left eye is doing great, no stinging or anything, but the right eye still feels like I have a small grain of sand in it. The Dr said that is perfectly normal and most likely will be gone by tomorrow morning. My vision cleared enough overnight that I am able to drive already. I can now drive, watch tv, work in the yard/garage, cook, shave and so many more things now with out glasses, however, I will now need to wear "readers" when working on the computer or for reading or detailed work.

Ok.... so the style needs some work, OK.... a lot of work, but they were free.
I had mentioned to Miss V that I had started this whole process 2 years ago and the accident and about cashing in my life insurance policy so she only charged me $3800.
TBC got to watch the whole procedure through a glass wall and on a monitor that showed exactly what the Dr could see.

Lasik Update #1

Wow. I can see things at a distance that I never could before with my glasses. It is recommended that you sleep for at least 3 hours after the procedure. We got back to TBC's (since he lives much closer) at just after 4 so I laid down to sleep with Belle curled up next to me and soon started to drift in and out, shortly after Tana (TBC's cat) came in and curled up on my chest and proceeded to purr while I continued to drift. The reason they recommend that you sleep is because the earliest stage of the healing process is stinging or sand in the eyes feeling for about 3 hours. At about 5:30 I woke up with some very minor stinging in the left eye and it feels like I have a couple of grains of sand in my right eye, so I took another Vicadin, then laid back down but couldn't get back to sleep so I got up at about 6. It is now almost 7 and the stinging is all but gone and the sand feels like it is getting a bit smaller. Things are still a bit blury and I will see halos around lights at night for a few days to a few weeks, but I should be clear enough to be able to drive by tomorrow afternoon. A friend that had it done a while back said that his insurance wouldn't cover it but they did cover some of the cost after the fact so I checked with Kaiser, but they will not do that either. Still it is already so worth the 4K.

Holy Cow, Holy Wow....

15000 hits in 91 days.

Thanks Guys

Lasik

A couple of years ago I looked in to finally having Lasik surgery done. After researching all the local providers (I have Kaiser insurance and they don't cover it) for location, price, experience, etc.... I decided on www.willvision.com . At that time the cost was $1400 per eye (ouch). I only had a couple of student loan payments and I would be totally debt free leaving me in good position to afford Lasik.

But, along comes an idiot, aka hit and run driver, he hit the back of my Grand Cherokee so hard that it caused almost $7000 in damages, it was worth just over $4ooo, so instead of making payments on my Lasik I was forced to make truck payments instead.

Today is the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I had to surrender a life insurance policy for the cash value to cover the $1999.00 per eye (MAJOR OUCH). My appointment is this afternoon in Vancouver, with my followup appointment is tomorrow in Lake Oswego.

I will keep you up dated on my progress.
