Life With Riley....

has come to a sudden and quiet end.

Riley come to us over two years ago from TBC's sister, she had asked him to take both of her dogs to the pound. Well they never got there. Bear was a rather hyper little terrier mix that we were quickly able to find a good home, but since Riley had major anxiety issues and was on three Prozac a day, we decided to keep her since it would be really difficult to find her a new home(the pound would have probably put her down with out even trying to find her a home). TBC spent the next several months weaning her off of the Prozac, not with out some damage to home and auto. Once off the meds she became a calm and quiet member of the family and soon seemed as thou she had always been with us.
Last Tuesday morning TBC noticed that she was having difficulty walking and that her left eye was drooping, thinking that she may be having a stroke he rushed her to the vet. The vet said it was an infection to the brain stem and put her on antibiotics, there was noticeable improvement yet that same day. Over the next few days she continued to improve to the point that on Sunday morning nothing seem out of the ordinary. TBC took her to work with him and she greeted the customers as she normally would. In early afternoon she seem to be getting really tired so he put her in the truck to sleep in peace and quiet. When getting home from work she didn't want to get out of the truck, witch is not all that unusual for her since she was quite the experienced napper. TBC went back out to check on in a little while and found that her breathing seemed to be a bit labored, we decided to let her stay where she was and see if there was any improvement in a little bit. When TBC went back to check on her again he found that she had quietly passed in her sleep........

That breaks my heart. My partner and I had to put our dog down last fall because of kidney disease. It was one the most difficult times of my life. OUr dog was only eight years old. Before we took him to the vet I laid with him in our backyard for an hour. That's where I buried his ashes. He will always be a part of me.

3 months later we rescued a 5 year old Sheltie, a girl. She's the most affectionate dog I've ever owned. I can't live without dogs! =)
